Mustafa Abu Ali (1940-2009) was one of
the founders of the Palestine Film Unit in 1968, a documentary film group under
the direction of the PLO. A pioneer of militant cinema, Abu Ali was dedicated
not only to documenting the revolutionary period of the Palestinian struggle,
but to asserting his right to represent himself and his people, a process he
believed was necessary for Palestinian liberation.
