Little is known of Thorayya Kaddoura ثريّا قدّورة. She was a singer who lived in Jerusalem and is mentioned in Wasif Jawhariyyeh’s The Storyteller of Jerusalem, The Life and Times of Wasif Jawhariyyeh, 1904-1948. She likely moved to Egypt in the mid- to late 1920s and worked with Sayyed Shata, an Egyptian composer and oudist. “Soufounan Banaha Nouh” (“Ships Built by Noah”) was released by Baidaphon in either 1925 or 1926. This recording was provided by the AMAR Foundation for Arab Music Archiving & Research, with additional information provided by the Palestinian Institute for Cultural Development NAWA. Catalog no B084633, collection of Kamal Kassar.
